He's Uno

So Dex has turned one! Officially it happened on the 29Th we had the unofficial birthday party on the 26th so the grandparents could all be there and see the fun. He was so cute he totally devoured his cupcake we made him and had a really fun time.
My parents were out for Christmas and brought my little chair that I use to sit in when I was a kid and Dex absolutely loves it. He sits in it all the time. It was a great a party.

Sarah was also there and her and Dex got to play together.

Christmas

So Christmas has come and gone already I can hardly believe it. We had a our very first christmas dinner in our new house! It was so much fun but so busy! Rich and Ry the gourmet chefs they are made a killer prime rib. I decorated the table with my mom's hand cross stiched tablecloth and my Grandma Sue's china. The table looked fantasic and it was really yummy. Next year I"ll be more than happy to go to someones though, a lot less clean up for me!

I forgot to mention santa dropped by although he looked a little sort and thin!

Winter Fun

So we found the coolest free thing to do in winter! Believe it or not. The Olympic park in park city is free! They have a whole ski museum which has a few games which are fun but really not all that exciting. The best part about driving all the way up there is when the skier are practicing. It was so awesome you get to walk up super close to the jumps and then watch these crazy kids huck themselves off of them. It was so cool definitely recommend it. I think they will be practicing every Saturday from 12:30-3:00. Definitely worth the drive.

Fake Tile

So Rich probably hates me now because every time he turns around I have a new project for him. This last one turned out a be a bigger one than I thought it would be but the results are beautiful. Our entry way was tiled with rust red 70's tile but we found these really cool stick on tiles at lowe's for only 88 cents and the results are amazing! Check it out.

Rich did a really great job I'm lucky that he knows how to do a bunch of handy stuff like this. I was planning on doing it myself but the results wound not have been this good.

Time off

So since I've had time off with my appendix I've actually got some projects done around the house! I was able to paint the bathroom upstairs and I even re-painted the bedroom. When we first moved in we painted it all HGTV styles and found we didn't like it so I finally fixed it yeah! Here are the results.

Also I'm really excited because I bought a mandarin orange tree this summer and almost killed it when we had to go to the fair but miraculously it has come back to life and it is about ready to give me it's first orange!

Grow little orange grow!

Hot Tub

So when we bought our house we kind of noticed it had a hot tub in the backyard. We were disappointed though when we found out it didn't work. That is till now! We totally have it up and working. Well a couple of jets don't work and the blower, which is used for the tiny bubbles that come through the seats don't work, but it holds water and its warm! We are so excited. We sat in it last night, actually Rich did I just dipped my legs because I don't want my incisions to get infected and it was nice! I even has a light in it yippee.

Appendicitis

Wow so did I have the craziest night ever on Tuesday. It started out like any normal night at work until about 9pm. At this point I was chatting with co-workers and drinking a carton of milk. I took one swig and as soon as that milk hit my stomach I knew I was in trouble. Right away my stomach felt bad. I thought I was getting lactose intolerant shrugged it off and went about my business, or at least I tried.
It started getting more and more painful. I tried drinking sprite, that didn't help I tried eating crackers, no good. My friend at work made me some herbal tea and gave me some wheat thins. Nothing. So then I thought maybe I need to vomit that might help, didn't then I thought maybe it's gas, sorry no luck there. So I go to the doctors room and lay my head down to see if little nap will help. About 5 minutes into my nap the CNA walks in tells me my one patient has a ridiculously high blood pressure. UGGHH!
So I get up walk all the way down the hall into the patients room its a little dark in there and he is sitting on the edge of the bed. I walk up to him and ask when is the last time you urinated? He responds "2pm" and then falls on his side on the bed unresponsive. At this point I panic. I start yelling his name but he doesn't answer. I pull the emergency button and yell "I need some help in here" just like on TV! Everyone comes racing in. I turn on the room light and he is purple. We get ready to do CPR but luckily he has pulse so all we have to do is breath for him. Easier said than done, he had bowel surgery a few days prior and was now chocking on some sort of fluid. The code team final comes in the room and they prepare to intibate him (that's were they stick a tube into his lungs so we can breath) That's a success so finally his color is turning pink again yeah!
This whole time my stomach didn't hurt at all and I thought oh good it passed I'm going to be ok. Finally the finish working on him and transfer him down to the ICU.

About 20 minutes after the code I'm back to just hurting so bad. This was about 3am. Finally at 5am I decide I'm going to go the ER because this is just too much I've never had pain like this so I pass off my patients and go down.
They run some blood tests push on my stomach, ouch, then do a cat scan. What do you know my appendix is inflamed and must be removed! So into surgery I go. IT was my first surgery so it was very strange. All I remember of the operating room was being wheeled in there and then they put something in my IV and I was out. I woke up in my hospital be up on the floor. Yeah I got taken care of by the exact same people I work with. Talk about awkward. It was cool thought because they took really good care of me and it was fun to see everyone with my greasy hair and my butt hanging out of the back of my hospital gown, not really. So there it is I've officially had surgery and survived. Now recovery is the hard part because I have to take it easy and not lift a whole lot or do a whole lot. That's not easy to do with a 10 month old.
